Turn OFF the TV Book Studies

Oasis: Lake Orion Summer 2010

Ok, let’s be honest.  Middle school students don’t usually have full time summer jobs.  Middle school students also don’t usually have a sport or something else that takes up every afternoon of their summer.  Middle school students DO usually get BORED in the summer.  How about taking a month and turning off the tv so that you can grow in your relationship with Christ, grow in relationships and do something absolutely crazy… read a book!  Come join our little rebellion against watching tv all the time and get inspired to live differently… to for for the Savior instead of the self!  Hope to see you there!

When: Wednesday Nights, July 21st through August 25th

What: A summer book study for guys & girls. The girls will be going through the book A Young Lady in Waiting by Jackie Kendall. The boys will be going through Alex and Brett Harris’s book Do Hard Things.

Cedar Point

A day at Cedar Point… need we say more! This is also a great chance for you to spend a sunny day (hopefully) with your friends and small group leaders in the middle of your summer break! We meet at the Troy campus at 7am, travel by chater bus to the park and return at midnight. Groups are separated by grade and gender and we’ll have one adult small group leader for every four attending students. If you’re not quite connected at Oasis this is a great chance to jump start some great friendships at the greatest amusement park in the world. Don’t like coasters? We’ll mix up the rides in your group so that everyone gets has a great time. Finally, got a question, let us know!

6th Grade Families Mini-Conference

Starting something new is exciting and scary all at the same time.  And starting middle school is a major milestone in life as you move from being treated like a child to being treated more and more like an adult.  More freedoms, physical changes, demands and responsibilities.  Oasis wants to help both parents and students get ready for this exciting stage of life.  That’s what this multi-site conference is all about!

When: August 20th from 7-10pm and August 21st from 8a-12:30p

What: This is an all new family mini-conference for new 6th grade students and their parents. Entering middle school is a major life milestone and we want to make sure that our families are as prepared as possible. Give us a call, send us a message or pick up a Jump Start postcard at the Oasis information table if you have any questions.

How Much: $40 (includes dinner, breakfast, books & resources) .
